One
of the raved of the moment in Yoruba circuit of Gospel music is with no
doubt the humble and well endowed Evangelist Rotimi Micheal Onimole
better known musically as Oba Ara. The act, has indeed calved a niche
for himself in the craft of Gospel music since his foray into the
industry.
His
first effort, titled Oba Ara, the name that eventually symbolized his
brand paved way for him in the industry. The Beautiful Testimony
crooner, is now without been sycophant at the peak of his career just
as his unrivalled effort in competing vocally with some of his senior
colleagues has earned him Ambassadorial deal from one of the
multinational telecommunication company, TECNO recently.
In
this short piece, the Lagos Island-born Gospel Singer cum the estate
management guru took Rahman Ismail to his world as a musician of repute,
as a new ambassador of TECNO and sundry issues that would be of best
interest. Excerpts.....
Musically, what is the latest about Oba Ara?
It
was well publicized last year when I released my new album which I
titled 'Oba Ajulo'. By at large, I'm presently working on "Oba Ajulo"
video.
Can you just brief us about the inspiration behind Oba Ajulo ?
The
concept behind Oba Ajulo album is devine. Culturally I don't do my
stuff out of the call, I listen fervently to the voice of God before
laying my hands on anything. So, the album is based on directive of
God.
It
was also reported that you relocated your family to UK so as to give
music maximum attention to your musical career, how true is it?
I
didn't relocate my family for that purpose because they are not
hindrance to my success, their travelling is for their personal
pleasure.
What is the latest about the rancour between you and Evangelist Tope Alabi because we heard you both are cat and rat?
Evangelist
Tops Alabi is a respected senior colleague. I respect her so much that
I can't disrespect her. But one thing that ought to be considered is
that when you see a dog that has always love to embrace whenever it
sights you nd suddenly it begins to bark you, then one must be
courteous. We are not cat and rat, I only spoke my mind and I have let
go of it.
Congratulation on your new endorsement deal with TECNO MOBILE how does it happen sir?
I receive their call and I went to honour their call that was how it all started.
What is the trust of the deal and how last is it going to last?
What
l want you to understand is that the deal is ok, as we all know that
Tecno is a very reputable organisation that has good name to protect.The
deal is a long term deal and it can be terminated by either party
anytime.
Nigerian Gospel artistes hardly got endorsement from multinational companies, how do you scale through the hurdles?
I believe when something belongs to you, it will definitely be yours no matter the circumstances.
People are of the opinion that you lobbied for the deal from TECNO what is your reaction?
For
what reason on earth will I lobby for the deal, I was appointed at
their own will and I received it with full joy. The cristal fact about
multinational companies Ambassadorial endorsement is that you can't
lobby for it and get it without you suiting them. You must firstly
imbibing the needed criteria before they can put you on the race.
Therefore, nothing like lobby or whatsoever.
Can Oba Ara tell us the pact between you and Biodun Okeowo.
There
is nothing special between myself and Biodun Okeowo, she is just like a
sister to me in entertainment industry and she featured in one of my
album "Beautiful Testimony" that is all.
What is the uniqueness in Oba Ara that distinguished you from your peers?
Is not my doing, but its lord doing. I'm not glamourous but I'm exorbitant to a certain extent.
Your message for your fans home and abroad?
They should Learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow.
